DS5 Hybrid Power Loss

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2013 Citroen DS5 Hybrid. It's got about 128k km on the clock, and lately, I've noticed a significant reduction in engine power. The check engine light also comes on intermittently. I suspect it might be the throttle valve. Has anyone experienced similar issues? Could it be the accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside? I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm up against before taking it to a shop.

Hey, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my Opel Insignia a while back – different car, I know. Engine felt like it was in limp mode, and the check engine light was on constantly. I suspected the throttle position sensor, but it turned out to be a faulty mass airflow sensor. Did you check it? What does the engine idling look like? Any response delay? Maybe you can check for that throttle sensor before anything else?

Interesting! I haven't checked the mass airflow sensor yet, but I will definitely take a look. When yours was faulty, did it also cause any issues with the throttle response or a delay when accelerating? I will start by looking at the throttle sensor, as I saw some videos on how to access it. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm on the right track focusing on the throttle valve or if I should be looking at other potential causes as well.

Yes, the throttle response was definitely affected, felt like a delay especially at lower speeds. It could very well be the throttle valve sensor in your case, so it's a good starting point. To be honest, with the hybrid system in your DS5, it might be best to have a workshop diagnose it properly. I ended up paying around 265€ for the replacement and the labour.

Thanks a lot for the insight! I appreciate you sharing your experience with the Opel. I think you're right; I'll probably take it to a trusted mechanic to get a proper diagnosis. The information helps me go to the workshop better informed and prepared for the likely repair costs. I'll let you know the outcome.
