Clock spring? I haven't heard of that before. Is it a big job to check, or is it something I can probably do myself? I'm okay with basic stuff, but I don't want to mess anything up.

Yeah, the clock spring allows the steering wheel to turn while maintaining electrical connections. Honestly, on my Astra, it was a bit fiddly to get to, and I ended up taking it to a workshop. They diagnosed it as a faulty cable connection in the steering wheel itself. It's probably best to get it checked out by a professional, especially with airbag stuff involved!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on! They said it was a defective cable connection in the steering wheel. They fixed it for about 95€.

Oh, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my old Vauxhall Astra. The horn and the radio controls on the steering wheel just died. I think it might be related to the clock spring or a bad connection somewhere in the steering column. Worth checking!
