E Klasse Diesel Coding Issue

I'm stumped. My 2012 Mercedes E Klasse diesel is acting up. The malfunction indicator lamp is on, and I'm getting error messages plastered all over the displays. I hooked up my OBD-II scan tool and pulled a fault code that points to some kind of coding issue. Incorrect coding at this mileage? Has anyone else seen this?

Interesting situation. I also drive an E Klasse, and while I haven't experienced exactly that, I did encounter a similar issue some time ago. Could you provide the specific fault code that your scan tool retrieved? What other symptoms are you experiencing besides the warning lights?

The fault code is X166400. 'Control unit coding faulty'. No other symptoms besides the warnings, car drives perfectly fine. What was your similar issue, and how did you resolve it?

Ah, I recall now. I encountered the same 'Control unit coding faulty' message. The vehicle operated without any discernible performance degradation, mirroring your experience. Considering the diagnostic information and the absence of tangible symptoms, it is my professional opinion that a visit to a qualified workshop is warranted. Attempting self-correction without the appropriate diagnostic equipment and expertise carries inherent risks. It is crucial to ensure all electronic control units are correctly configured.

Thanks, I appreciate the confirmation. Took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out the coding was indeed corrupted somehow. They recoded the affected module, reset the codes, and everything is back to normal. Cost me 360€, but at least the error messages are gone!
