E Klasse diesel engine issue

My 2013 Mercedes E Klasse Diesel has a check engine light on and is jerking during acceleration There's also whistling and hissing when accelerating and the engine sometimes stalls at idle Fuel consumption is up and power is down I suspect a faulty boost pressure sensor or connection Has anyone seen this

Whoa that sounds familiar I had almost the exact same symptoms on my E Klasse minus the whistling but the hissing was definitely there Check engine light and the jerking under acceleration were driving me nuts I'd put money on it being a boost leak somewhere in the turbocharger system The whistling could very well be air escaping Have you checked all the hoses and connections around the turbo and intercooler for any cracks or looseness A cracked hose is probably the easiest and cheapest fix Otherwise yeah could be the boost sensor itself giving false readings which messes with the engine management system What codes are you pulling from the check engine light That'll give you a much better idea of what's going on Is the turbo boost actually kicking in

I appreciate your insights I have inspected the hoses and connections but haven't found any obvious issues I also can't check the error code currently Did you resolve your similar issue yourself or did you take it to a workshop If you used a workshop can you share the repair details and cost

Okay if you can't find any obvious hose damage and don't have a code reader I'd seriously consider getting it to a workshop I messed around with mine for ages chasing what I thought was a boost leak and ultimately ended up damaging something else because I didn't know what I was doing It's probably something simple like a split hose that's hard to see or even just a faulty boost sensor like you suspected They should be able to pinpoint the exact cause pretty quickly with their diagnostic tools Plus they can properly test the turbocharger to make sure it's not damaged Save yourself the potential headache and get a professional opinion I am pretty sure that it could be related to the turbo boost sensor though

I appreciate you sharing your experience I took the car to a workshop and you were absolutely correct It turned out to be a defective boost pressure sensor and the cable connection was indeed faulty The sensor was replaced the connection was repaired and the check engine light is now off The car is running smoothly again and the jerking and hissing noises are gone The total cost was 95€ as I had estimated Your guidance was invaluable in helping me diagnose the issue and resolve it
