E Klasse engine issue

My 2014 Mercedes E Klasse gasoline engine has a check engine light and feels like it's lost power. It has 232547 km on it. Engine response is terrible, and I'm burning way more fuel. The codes point to a boost pressure control fault. I've read about boost solenoid issues and turbo lag. Could this be a vacuum switching valve problem? Could the pressure sensor be faulty? Is compressor surge a thing on these?

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Mercedes E Klasse is experiencing a check engine light, reduced power, and increased fuel consumption, with diagnostic codes indicating a boost pressure control fault. Possible causes include issues with the boost solenoid, turbo lag, or a faulty vacuum switching valve. The solution involved replacing the vacuum switching valve, which resolved the problem and restored the car's performance.

Sounds familiar! I had almost the same issue with my E Klasse, though I don't remember the exact code. I remember experiencing similar symptoms like reduced engine performance and hesitations, especially at lower RPMs. I'm no mechanic, but it felt like my turbo wasn't kicking in when it should. I was constantly getting frustrated with the car. Did you notice any weird noises?

I haven't noticed any weird noises, but the turbo lag is definitely there. It's like the engine is struggling until it finally gets going. What exactly was the problem with your car, and how was it fixed? Was it a simple fix, or was it expensive?

Okay, so mine was definitely the vacuum switching valve. I was hoping it'd be something simple, but no such luck. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it yourself unless you really know what you're doing. I ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. It's best to get it checked out properly before you cause more damage.

Thanks a lot for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll take it to a trusted mechanic. I had it fixed, it really was the vacuum switching valve. Cost me 140€ including the part and labor. Car runs like new again!
