E Klasse hybrid engine issue

I have a 2016 Mercedes E Klasse hybrid with 173297 km on the clock. Recently, the check engine light illuminated, and I've noticed a distinct reduction in engine power. Also, there is smoke coming out when I accelerate, which is concerning. I suspect the crankcase ventilation valve might be malfunctioning. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Yes, I have encountered a comparable predicament with my E Klasse. The symptoms you describe—the engine light, diminished power, and smoke—strongly suggest a leak in the crankcase ventilation system. The PCV valve is a common culprit. It is important to address it swiftly to prevent potential engine damage. Do you hear any unusual hissing sounds from the engine bay, or notice any oil leaks?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't noticed any hissing sounds, but I will check again tomorrow. As for oil leaks, where should I be looking specifically?

It is prudent to inspect the engine bay meticulously. Focus on areas surrounding the valve cover gasket and the crankcase itself. Any signs of oil residue or dampness could indicate a leak. Given the symptoms, I would suggest consulting a qualified mechanic for a thorough diagnosis and repair. In my experience, this crankcase ventilation malfunction will likely require a replacement of the PCV valve and possibly related components. I would advise you to have it checked at the earliest opportunity.

Thank you for the advice and confirmation. I appreciate the help. I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on: the crankcase ventilation valve was defective. The repair cost me 360€.
