Wow, that sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with the rear sun blind on my old Volvo S60. The car blind just decided it was done working one day and wouldn't budge. I remember reading about similar problems on Volvo forums back then. Did you check the fuse box to see if the fuse for the sun protection is still good? A blown fuse could cause the motor to stop working. Also, is there any chance something is physically blocking the sun blind's path? Maybe something shifted in the back seat and is preventing it from moving? Could be a simple fix before you resign yourself to a costly sunshade repair.

Thanks for the quick reply! A fuse, huh? I hadn't thought of that. Good point about the physical obstruction too, I'll have to double-check for anything blocking it. Where exactly is the fuse box located in the E Klasse, and which fuse am I looking for specifically for the car blind, or is it labelled as sun protection? And regarding physical obstructions, where exactly should I look to try and locate any possible problems, is there any specific part of the sunblind or window visor where it is likely to get stuck?

Yeah, fuses are always worth a look. In my Volvo, the fuse box was in the trunk, but I'm not sure where it is in the E Klasse. Your owner's manual should have a diagram showing the location and fuse assignments. As for which fuse, look for anything labeled 'rear window blind,' 'sunshade,' or something similar. About physical obstructions, check the tracks on either side of the sun blind. Sometimes, small objects can fall into those tracks and jam things up. Also, feel the fabric of the sun blind itself. If it's bunched up or twisted, that could be causing it to bind.

Okay, I really appreciate the input! I checked the fuses, and they seemed fine. After a little more investigation, I found out the motor was indeed defective, as suspected. I decided to take it to the workshop to get it fixed. Cost me around 330€ for the sunshade repair and they replaced the whole unit. It’s working perfectly now, so at least that's a relief. Thanks again for the help!
