Eclipse Cross HVAC & Mirror Defrost Issues, Solutions?
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Eclipse Cross Hybrid is experiencing issues with cabin heating, cooling, and side mirror defrosting. The suspected cause is a faulty cooling circuit water valve, potentially due to a cable connection problem. A similar issue in another Mitsubishi model was resolved by repairing the cable connection and flushing the system to remove sediment buildup. It's recommended to have the entire heating/cooling circuit checked and flushed during repairs to prevent future problems.

Thanks for sharing your experience! No warning lights showing up on the dash at the moment. The heating/cooling issues are pretty consistent, happens every time I drive, regardless of the weather. Just had my service done last month at 78336 KM, and everything else is running fine. Think I'll get it checked out at the dealer just to be safe. Appreciate the heads up about the possible faulty cable connection, that's super helpful to know before I take it in! Let me know if you ran into any other quirks with yours that I should watch out for.

Hey again! Glad I could help with the initial info. Yeah, that's exactly how mine started too, no warning lights but consistent issues. Since you mentioned yours is behaving the same way mine did, I thought I'd share some follow-up from my experience with my Outlander PHEV. After getting it fixed, I actually discovered another small quirk, sometimes the water valve would make a slight clicking noise when switching between hot and cold. My mechanic said this was totally normal for these Mitsubishi models, so don't freak out if you notice that after the repair. One thing I learned from my situation, it's worth having them check the entire heating/cooling circuit while they're at it. In my case, they found some minor sediment buildup in the system that could've caused problems down the road. They did a flush while they were fixing the cable connection, and it's been running like a charm ever since (going on 2 years now). Good call on taking it to the dealer, especially since you've got a newer model than mine. Keep us posted on what they find, always interesting to see if these issues are showing up across different years of Mitsubishis!

Thanks so much for the detailed follow-up! That's really good to know about the clicking noise, definitely would have worried about that if I hadn't known it was normal. I've got my appointment scheduled for next Tuesday, and I'll make sure to ask them about checking the whole circuit and doing a flush while they're at it. Super helpful tip! You've really saved me some stress here, walking into the dealer with this information makes me feel way more confident about the whole situation. I'll definitely update this thread once I get it sorted out. I'm betting it'll be a similar fix to what you had done. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience in such detail!

Hey there! I have some experience working on cars and had a similar issue with my 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (dealt with quite a few Mitsubishis, including the ASX). I had almost identical symptoms, heating/cooling acting up and defrosting issues. Took it to my regular workshop and they found it was indeed a faulty cable connection to the water valve. The whole repair, including parts and labor, cost me around 155€. Pretty straightforward fix once they identified the problem. Before I share more specific details about my experience, could you tell me if you're getting any warning lights on the dash? Also, does the issue happen all the time or only under certain conditions? This would help me better understand if you're dealing with the exact same problem I had.
