Ecosport central locking failure
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Ford Ecosport experienced a central locking failure, with the doors unable to lock or unlock. The issue was not due to the key fob battery, as both the primary and spare fobs were ineffective. After ruling out fuse problems, a faulty door contact signal was suspected, which could prevent the automatic locks from functioning. The problem was confirmed to be a defective cable connection, which was repaired at a workshop, resolving the central locking issue.

No, the interior lights seem to be working just fine when I open the doors. As far as I know, the wiring harness hasn't been damaged or repaired, but I did buy it used a couple of years ago, so I don't know its full history. What does the door contact signal actually do?

The door contact signal informs the car's computer whether the doors are open or closed. If the signal is faulty, it can prevent the automatic locks from functioning. Based on your description and the mileage, a defective cable or plug connection within the component is likely. I would suggest taking it to a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. It was a defective cable connection. They fixed it for 95€, and now the central locking is working perfectly again. Really appreciate the help!

It sounds like you might have a faulty door contact signal. Have you noticed any issues with the interior lights not working correctly when you open the doors? Also, has the wiring harness ever been damaged or repaired in the past?
