Ecosport Crankshaft Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Ford Ecosport diesel exhibited a check engine light, poor acceleration, and high fuel consumption. The initial diagnosis pointed to a 'crankshaft to camshaft reference value' error, suggesting a potential crankshaft sensor issue. After further diagnostics at a different workshop, the crankshaft sensor was confirmed to be defective and was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks! How did you determine it was the cam sensor and not the crank sensor? Was the diagnosis difficult?

The error codes were similar, but further diagnostics pointed to the camshaft sensor. Given your symptoms and the potential crankshaft sensor issue, I'd suggest a thorough inspection at a proper workshop to pinpoint the exact cause. It could also be related to the timing belt or timing chain.

Thanks! I took it to another workshop, and after a proper diagnostic, the crankshaft sensor was indeed defective, as the first mechanic suspected. The repair cost 340€. I appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my 2016 Peugeot 308. The error code indicated a timing problem, which turned out to be a faulty cam sensor. Are you sure it isn't the cam sensor?
