Ecosport Diesel Injector Issue

Having trouble with my 2007 Ford Ecosport diesel, about 128k km on it. Check engine light is on, and I've noticed a definite loss of power. The engine runs rough, especially at idle where it sometimes stalls. When accelerating, it feels like the car is jerking. Error codes point to the injector. Has anyone experienced something similar? Spark plugs seem okay, maybe it's a fuel injection issue or even something with the oxygen sensor? Could it be running a rich mixture?

Summary of the thread

The 2007 Ford Ecosport diesel is experiencing issues such as a check engine light, loss of power, rough idling, stalling, and jerking during acceleration. Error codes suggest a problem with the injector, and potential causes could include a defective injector, fuel injection issues, or an oxygen sensor malfunction. The recommended solution is to have a professional diagnostic and repair, as confirmed by another owner who resolved similar issues by replacing a defective injector.

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I had almost exactly the same symptoms with my Ecosport. Engine light, rough running, loss of power...it was a nightmare! I remember it involved hesitation and some sputtering during acceleration. Did that happen to you?

Yes, that sounds very familiar! The hesitation and sputtering are definitely there. How did you resolve it? Did you try any DIY fixes, or did you take it straight to a mechanic? I'm trying to avoid a huge bill if possible, but I also don't want to make things worse.

Honestly, I wouldn’t advise trying to fix the injection yourself if you don't have the right tools. I am afraid to make it even worse. I took mine to a workshop, and after diagnostic they told me the injector was defect. I suggest you do the same.

Thanks so much for the advice! You were spot on. I took it to the shop, and the diagnostic confirmed a defective injector. Had them replace it, and it cost me around 515€, including labor. The car is running like new now!
