Ecosport diesel particulate filter pressure issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Ecosport diesel engine exhibited a warning light, reduced power, smoke during acceleration, and a foul exhaust smell. The diagnostic scan indicated a 'diesel particulate filter exhaust pressure too low' error, suggesting a potential blocked DPF or faulty sensor. The issue was resolved by replacing the exhaust back pressure sensor, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Mostly city driving, short trips, unfortunately. Does this mean I should try a forced DPF regeneration or something? Or is it more likely the sensor itself is the problem?

With that driving pattern, it probably didn't regenerate enough. However, in my case, they kept mentioning the sensor itself failed. They replaced it, and the problem was gone. To be honest, I would bring it to a workshop to have it checked out.

Thanks for the advice! Just got it back from the workshop. Turns out it was indeed the exhaust back pressure sensor. Replacement and all cost me 245€. Running smoothly now.

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol engine. I had the engine light and loss of power. The garage mentioned something about exhaust back pressure, but I didn't get into the details. What kind of driving do you mostly do?
