Ecosport Diesel Preheating Lamp Issue

Afternoon. My 2018 Ford Ecosport, diesel engine, is giving me grief. Clocked 140144 km. The preheating lamp refuses to switch off, and I've got an error stubbornly stuck in the memory. Suspecting glow plug failure. Anyone seen similar? It feels like I'm trying to start a fire with wet wood – just won't catch properly. I'm bracing myself for a hefty bill; initial estimates put the repair around 440€. Any insights before I commit?

Sounds familiar. I've got an Ecosport diesel too, though I don't remember the exact year. Had a similar thing happen – the 'check engine' light stayed on and it was sluggish to start, especially when cold. Almost like the engine was protesting the early wake-up call. Did you notice any rough idling alongside the preheating lamp issue?

Interesting. Yes, the idling is definitely rougher than usual, especially when cold. It's like the engine's having a coughing fit for the first few minutes. Did replacing the glow plugs sort your problem out completely, or were there other gremlins lurking?

Yup, replacing the glow plugs sorted it right out. It was the glow plugs all along. I'd say take it to a workshop and get them checked and replaced. Seems like a pretty clear case, to be honest. Better to get it done now before the cold really hits and you're stranded.

Thanks for confirming! Sounds like I'm on the right track then. I'll book it in for a glow plug replacement. Appreciate the insight; feels good to have a direction before walking into the workshop.
