Ecosport engine running lean
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Ford Ecosport diesel with 115,000 km is experiencing issues with the engine running lean, resulting in a loss of power, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The problem may be caused by defective fuel injectors, an EGR valve issue, or a faulty catalytic converter. After consulting with a mechanic and confirming similar symptoms with another owner, the issue was resolved by replacing the fuel injectors, restoring the vehicle's performance.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the air-fuel ratio myself, I don't have the tools. I took it to a local mechanic and he mentioned something about the injection valve being defective. He also said it could be the EGR valve or even the catalytic converter. Did yours show the same symptoms?

Yep, those were the exact same symptoms I had. I messed around with it for a bit, but honestly, I'd just take it to a proper workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

Okay, thanks for confirming! It's good to know I'm not the only one. I took it to a proper workshop in the end, and you were right - it was the fuel injectors! Ended up costing me 515€ to get them replaced, but at least it's running smoothly now. Thanks for the advice!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Ecosport. Check engine light and loss of power. Have you checked the air-fuel ratio? Could be a bad injector, but it could also be something else. Is it throwing any specific codes?
