Ecosport Idle Air Control Valve Issue

I'm having a weird issue with my 2020 Ford Ecosport (gasoline engine). Lately, the check engine light keeps popping up, and I pulled the code – seems like something is up with the idle air control valve. The engine occasionally stalls out, especially when I'm stopped at a light. I think the intake is heavily contaminated. Has anyone else run into this?

Sounds like a plausible cause. Have you checked the throttle body for excessive carbon buildup? That can definitely mess with the IAC valve's performance.

Throttle body, huh? I haven't checked that yet. Is it difficult to get to on the Ecosport? Any tips for cleaning it, or should I just replace it?

It's usually not too bad to access. Cleaning it is worth a shot before replacing anything. But if the problem persists, and given the error code, it's likely the IAC valve itself. A workshop visit might be in order to confirm.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to the shop, and you were right. Ended up being the IAC valve, and they said the intake was pretty gunked up. Cost me 425€ to get it all sorted. Runs like new now though!
