Ecosport rail pressure sensor faulty
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Ford Ecosport diesel is experiencing a 'Rail pressure sensor signal faulty' error, causing the check engine light to illuminate, engine stalling at idle, and reduced engine power. The initial suspicion is a faulty pressure sensor. However, other potential causes such as a clogged fuel filter, wiring damage, or a bad fuel injector are suggested. A professional diagnosis is recommended to accurately identify and resolve the issue.

Thanks for the idea. Did the Renault also stall at idle, and did it throw the same fuel rail pressure error?

Yes, it stalled a lot at idle, especially when the engine was cold. The error code was kind of vague but pointed to fuel pressure issues. It turned out to be a bad fuel injector, but it took the mechanic a while to find it. You might want to have a pro check it out; it could be more than just the sensor.

Understood. Thanks for the input. I'll take it to a shop for a full diagnosis. The repair cost 240€.

That sounds familiar. My old Renault Megane had similar symptoms, but it ended up being something totally different. Have you checked the fuel filter or looked for any obvious wiring damage? It might be a long shot, but worth a look before you go deeper.
