Ecosport rough idle and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Ecosport with a gasoline engine was experiencing rough idling, stalling, and a check engine light, with jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a defective ignition coil, despite the spark plugs appearing fine. After a workshop diagnosis, it was confirmed that the ignition coil was faulty, likely due to a bad connection, and replacing it resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply! I visually inspected the cable and plug, but didn't see anything obvious. What exactly should I be looking for? Any specific signs of a defective connection?

In my case, the connection looked fine at first glance, but it was corroded inside. You might not see it easily. Given your symptoms, especially the stalling and check engine light, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. Could save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop as suggested. They confirmed it was indeed a defective ignition coil, likely due to a bad connection. The repair cost me 95€. Runs like new now!

I had a similar issue with my Ecosport: rough running, stalling, and the check engine light. It turned out to be a defective ignition coil. Before replacing it, did you check the cable and plug connections?
