Ecosport Stalling After Fuel Filter Change
Summary of the thread
The 2022 Ford Ecosport experienced stalling and power loss after a fuel filter change, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuel pressure regulator, possibly related to the recent maintenance. Suggestions included checking the fuel pressure sensor and ensuring no air was introduced into the system during the filter change. Ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the faulty fuel pressure regulator, restoring normal vehicle function.

Interesting. So, you think it's more likely to be the sensor than the regulator itself? And you mentioned air in the system - how would I check for that after changing the fuel filter?

Well, it's hard to say for sure without diagnostics, but in my case, the sensor was the culprit. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) throws a code when it detects values out of spec. As for air, some cars have a bleed valve. If not, a mechanic can check the fuel pressure and maybe see bubbles in the line. If you're not comfortable messing with the fuel system further, honestly, I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked. Peace of mind is worth it!

I appreciate the help. Turns out it was indeed a faulty fuel pressure regulator, likely triggered by an error entry after the fuel filter change like I initially thought. Got it replaced for 45€ and everything seems to be running smoothly again.

That sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although it was a diesel. Check engine light, pressure drop, the whole shebang. For me, it was a faulty fuel pressure sensor after messing with the fuel system. A 'fuel pressure regulator' controls fuel delivered to the engine, but the 'fuel pressure sensor' measures the actual pressure. You might have dislodged something or introduced air into the system when you changed the filter. Could also be the fuel pump itself struggling.
