Ecosport start stop malfunction

My 2011 Ford Ecosport diesel has a start-stop issue. Error in memory, engine sometimes shuts off randomly, and the warning light is constantly on. Suspect it's the battery, but not sure. Anyone else had this?

I had a similar problem with my old Opel Corsa, though it wasn't a diesel. The start-stop system kept acting up, and it turned out to be a dodgy sensor. Have you checked all the sensor connections related to the start-stop? It might be a simple fix.

Thanks for the tip! Which sensor was it on your Corsa? And where is it located? I'll check the connections, but a little more info would be really helpful before I start digging around.

I can't remember exactly which one it was, sorry. It was a while ago. But if your Ford Ecosport is like my Corsa was, it's probably best to take it to a workshop. They'll diagnose it properly, and you won't risk messing something else up. Start-stop systems can be tricky on modern cars.

You were right. Took it to the shop, and it turns out the battery was heavily discharged and defective. They replaced it, and the start-stop is working perfectly again. Cost me 290€, but at least it's fixed!
