Ecosport Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
The 2007 Ford Ecosport diesel experienced transmission issues, including emergency mode activation, poor shifting, slipping, and grinding noises, accompanied by warning lights. The problem was suspected to be related to the cooling system, but further investigation suggested a faulty transmission pressure sensor or wiring issues. After checking the transmission fluid and wiring, it was determined that a bad cable/plug connection to the transmission was the cause. A professional diagnosis confirmed this, and the issue was resolved by repairing the connection.

I haven’t checked the transmission fluid because I thought it was the radiator oil pressure. I did a quick check of the wires and plugs, but didn't see anything. I'll check again. Can you explain how a bad sensor causes these symptoms?

A faulty transmission pressure sensor can send the wrong signals to the TCU, causing the shifting and emergency mode. The TCU needs correct pressure readings to control the transmission's hydraulic system. If the sensor is wrong, the TCU might shift wrong or go into emergency mode to prevent damage. Even if the wiring looks okay, there could be small breaks or corrosion in the connector. Given the symptoms, I'd suggest a professional diagnosis. They can find the problem. It might be a loose connector, but be careful.

I took it to a mechanic. It was a bad cable/plug connection to the transmission, like you thought. It cost 95€, which is less than I expected. Thanks for the help.

Those symptoms suggest transmission problems, and the error code could help. Instead of radiator oil pressure, have you thought about a faulty transmission pressure sensor or wiring issues to the TCU? First, have you checked the transmission fluid level and condition? Low or dirty fluid can cause this. Also, check the wiring and plug connections for damage or corrosion. Why do you think it's radiator oil pressure?
