Ecosport Transmission Park Sensor

That's interesting! My Ecosport's transmission problem seems totally random. Do you mean that it could be caused by a faulty 'Park' detection system? My mechanic mentioned something about 'Neutral position', but he wasn't precise. Could it be a faulty Park/Neutral switch?

Yep, that's exactly it! The 'Park' sensor was the culprit in my case. If the car doesn't properly detect that it's in park, it won't allow you to start the engine, and it can mess with the transmission's shifting. Honestly, it's probably beyond a simple DIY fix unless you're very confident working on transmissions. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop that specializes in automatic gearboxes. They should be able to diagnose it properly.

Thank you SO MUCH for this information! After your advice I took it to a transmission specialist, and you nailed it. It was, in fact, a faulty sensor in the automatic transmission related to the 'Park' position. The error was correctly read out. They replaced it, cleared the error memory, and now my Ecosport runs like a dream again. Your suggestion saved me a ton of unnecessary troubleshooting!

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I have an Ecosport too. I had similar symptoms a while back: wouldn't start sometimes, gearbox acting crazy, and the check engine light was constantly on. For me, it turned out to be related to the automatic transmission's ability to detect 'Park'. Does it happen more often on inclines, or is it totally random?
