Edge Active Hood Fault

I've got a 2021 Ford Edge diesel with around 86k km on the clock, and I'm getting a weird "Active hood fault" message on the dash. The airbag warning light is also on, and when I plugged it into a reader, it shows a fault code related to the active hood system and that the actuators have been triggered. Anyone else run into this? I'm guessing it's a sensor issue somewhere?

An active hood fault accompanied by an airbag warning and triggered actuators certainly suggests a problem within the car safety system. Considering the integrated nature of these systems, the error suggests an issue with the impact sensor circuit or even a potential harness fault. Any recent events possibly triggering the system?

Thanks for the quick reply! No recent events that I'm aware of, no bumps or scrapes. Where is that impact sensor even located? Is it something I can check myself, or am I better off taking it in?

Given the absence of any triggering events and based on the symptoms you've described, the defective acceleration sensor is the most likely cause. Furthermore, tampering with impact sensors or safety systems could inadvertently trigger the airbags or other components, potentially leading to further damage or personal injury. I'd strongly recommend having a certified technician run a diagnostic to pinpoint the exact issue. It would be best if you visit your trusted workshop.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was a defective acceleration sensor. 315€ later, and everything is back to normal. Thanks again!
