Good call, I'll try the spare. If it's just the battery, is it something I can swap myself, or does it need reprogramming or something?

If the spare works without issue, then you should be fine replacing the battery in the original key. The system is probably seeing a low voltage and that is why the sensor has been triggered. I would suggest taking it to a workshop. Replacing the battery is straightforward, but sometimes the error code needs to be cleared, and they can check for any other potential issues while they're at it. Plus, they'll have the right tools and battery on hand.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Turns out it was just the battery, cost me 37€ at the workshop. All sorted now.

I had something similar happen with my Edge. Key fob issues are the worst. Did you try the spare key to see if that works? If so, it's definitely the battery in the first key. Keyless entry systems can be quite sensitive to voltage drops.
