Edge oil pressure warning lamp

Hi, I've got a problem with my Ford Edge, 2020 build, diesel engine. The oil pressure warning lamp keeps lighting up, accompanied by some pretty nasty mechanical noises coming from the engine. The car has 44209 km on the clock. I've checked the oil level, and it's fine. I also made sure that I am using the correct oil viscosity according to the owner’s manual. Could this be a faulty oil pressure sensor or something more serious?

I had a similar issue with my Edge. Have you noticed any change in engine performance or strange smells? It might be a blocked oil filter or something affecting the oil pump.

No change in performance, actually, and no weird smells either. How did you troubleshoot this issue on your Edge? What was the cause, if you don't mind sharing more details? Was the engine oil pressure gauge behaving erratically before the lamp lit up?

I didn't troubleshoot it myself. I took it directly to a workshop. I believe they mentioned something about the oil pump needing replacement. It’s worth getting it checked ASAP before you cause further damage.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. It turned out to be a defect in the oil pump, as suspected. The whole repair, including parts and labor, set me back 755€. At least it's sorted now.
