Elantra diesel fuel filter heater issue
Summary of the thread
The 2001 Hyundai Elantra diesel is experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, high fuel consumption, and uneven idling. The error memory indicates a potential issue with the fuel filter heater, possibly due to a bad cable or plug. Suggested solutions include checking the fuel filter and lines, but the primary recommendation is to seek professional diagnosis and repair, as the faulty heater could be causing these symptoms.

Thanks. The fuel filter was replaced about 10000 km ago. I checked the fuel lines and they look okay. Could a faulty fuel filter heater cause these symptoms, even with a newish filter?

Okay, if the filter's fairly new and the lines look good, then yeah, a faulty heater could be the culprit. Especially if the computer's throwing an error related to it. Electrical gremlins can be a pain. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis. Could save you a headache.

I appreciate your insight. I'm going to take it to a workshop for diagnosis and repair, as you suggested. The estimated cost is 95€.

Hey, I have an Elantra too, though not sure about the year. Those symptoms sound familiar. When was the last time you checked your fuel filter? A clogged filter can cause rough idle and power loss, impacting fuel efficiency. It might be starving the engine. Have you inspected the fuel lines for any kinks or blockages?
