Elantra Hybrid Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Elantra hybrid experienced reduced engine power, with diagnostics indicating an error related to the engine control unit (ECU). The issue was suspected to be caused by a defective main relay. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the ECU was indeed the problem, and the main relay was defective, leading to the necessary repairs.

Thanks for the quick reply! The error code seems pretty specific about the ECU, but the reduced power is the only noticeable symptom. What was the exact issue with your Elantra, and how did you fix it? Was it also the ECU?

My issue turned out to be a faulty sensor causing the ECU to misinterpret data and limit power. Given your specific error code, it does sound more like a potential ECU issue. I'd probably take it to a workshop for a proper diagnosis before replacing any expensive parts. Could save you money and hassle in the long run.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop as suggested, and you were right, the ECU was indeed the problem. It turns out the main relay was defective, just like I suspected. Repair cost me around 120€ Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Interesting. I've got a regular Elantra, no hybrid. I had similar symptoms a while back. Did the diagnostics specifically point to the ECU, or just a generic engine fault? It might be worth checking all the connections to the ECU before assuming the worst. Has the car been behaving strangely in any other way?
