Elantra Hybrid Transmission Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Elantra hybrid with 175,000 km is experiencing transmission issues, including warning lights, emergency mode, slipping, rough shifting, and grinding noises. The problem is linked to a faulty transmission oil temperature sensor, potentially exacerbated by low gearbox oil. Initially, topping up the oil did not resolve the issues, but replacing the sensor ultimately fixed the problem.

The error code specifically points to the transmission oil temperature sensor. But could a low oil level trigger a bad reading from the sensor, causing all the other issues like the emergency mode and rough shifting?

Yep, that's exactly what happened to my Insignia. Low oil caused the sensor to go haywire, throwing all sorts of codes. I'd suggest getting the oil level checked ASAP. If it's low, top it off and see if the problem goes away. If not, you probably need a new sensor. I ended up taking it to a workshop to be certain.

Thanks for the advice! I checked the oil level, and it was indeed low. I topped it up, but the problems persisted. I ended up replacing the sensor at the shop, cost me 365€. Seems to have fixed it! Appreciate the help!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old 2016 Opel Insignia: engine light, transmission going nuts... It turned out to be a dodgy oil level. But I thought the temp sensor was just faulty? What errors are you getting?
