Elantra Massage Seat Switch Issue

Hey, I've got a perplexing issue with my 2004 Hyundai Elantra diesel, which has done 117359 km. The massage seat switch won't work. The massage function is unresponsive and I found an error stored in the error memory. I suspect a defective cable or plug. Anyone else seen this? I'm concerned about diving into the upholstery without guidance, and a big repair bill isn't appealing. Any insights?

Summary of the thread

A 2004 Hyundai Elantra owner is experiencing an issue with the massage seat switch being unresponsive, with an error stored in the error memory. The suspected causes include a defective cable or plug. Suggestions include checking related fuses and consulting the vehicle's manual for fuse locations. Ultimately, a workshop visit is recommended for diagnosis and repair, with a reasonable repair quote provided.

Hey there! I've got a newer Elantra, though I don't remember the year. I had a similar thing happen with my massage seat. It just wouldn't kick in. I fiddled with the fuses related to the power seats and the lumbar support, but that wasn't it. Have you checked those? Maybe it's something simple.

Thanks! My expertise in automotive electrics is limited. Could you say which specific fuses I should check? A precise location would be helpful, as I don't want to mess with the wrong things. Did your error memory show any stored faults?

Yeah, the manual should have a diagram of the fuse box and what each one controls. I'm pretty sure it was under the dash on the driver's side. As for the error memory, yes, it did show some sort of fault code related to the massage chair circuit. Honestly, after messing with it for a bit, I just took it to my local shop. Seems like it's a fairly common issue and they were able to diagnose and fix it pretty quickly.

Thanks for the insights! It looks like a workshop visit is best. I've made an appointment, and they quoted me around 95€ for the repair, which seems reasonable. Hopefully, it's a simple fix, as they also suspect a defective cable or plug.
