That sounds exactly like what I did I recently used an OBD2 scanner to check for some unrelated errors which I cleared. So, if the system readiness check is incomplete, what do I do about it I need to pass the vehicle inspection soon

Yes, clearing codes with an OBD2 scanner will reset the system readiness monitors. To complete the readiness checks, your car needs to perform what's called a 'drive cycle'. This involves driving under specific conditions that allow the car's computer to run all the necessary tests. However, the exact driving conditions can be tricky to replicate. The easiest solution is often to take it to a workshop. They can either perform a 'forced' drive cycle or simply reset the readiness flags. The good news is it should be a quick and inexpensive fix, if not free.

Just wanted to give you an update I took my electric Mini Cabrio to the shop, and you were right on the money. They said the system readiness wasn't complete because of when I had it hooked up for diagnostics. They reset it, and now the error is gone, the vehicle inspection passed without issues, and it didn't cost me a thing Thanks so much for the help

I had a similar issue with my Mini Countryman also electric after using an OBD2 scanner. It sounds like your 'system readiness' check, also known as 'OBD readiness', is incomplete. This means that not all the tests required to ensure your car's emissions systems are working correctly have been run since the last time the error codes were cleared. Did you recently clear any codes, or was the car scanned for something else
