Electric Mini Countryman steering column issue

Alright, I'm officially stumped and hoping someone can help! My electric 2023 Mini Countryman is throwing a fit with its electric steering column adjustment. Basically, the error memory has a fault stored, and the steering column won't adjust electrically anymore. The garage thinks it's a cable or plug issue. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas before I potentially face a bill?

Sounds like a frustrating issue! I had a similar problem with my Mini Cooper - same brand obviously - a few years back. The electric adjustment went haywire. Did you check the fuses related to the steering column? That's where I would start.

Thanks for the tip! I haven't checked the fuses yet, to be honest I am not very technically skilled when it comes to car steering. Do you know which fuse number it is?

Yeah, in my case, the fuses were fine, but the error memory was showing the same symptoms as you described: steering failure. Given that the garage suspects a cable or plug, and the cost is relatively low, it is likely what they found on my car as well. Honestly, I'd just let them sort it. It's fiddly work and probably best left to the pros.

Just wanted to let you know the issue is now resolved! Turns out, just like you suspected, it was a dodgy connection. They found a loose plug on the steering column. 95€ later, and the electric adjustment is working perfectly again. Thanks so much for your help, you saved me a bunch of stress!
