Electric seat malfunction on Mercedes CLA
Summary of the thread
The electric passenger seat on a 2015 Mercedes CLA is malfunctioning, displaying an error message and failing to adjust. The issue may stem from a discharged battery, which can cause voltage fluctuations affecting the seat control module. Checking and potentially replacing the battery is recommended as a first step. If the battery is not the issue, further diagnostics by a professional are advised to identify problems with the seat switch, wiring, or control unit.

Okay, the battery is interesting! I'll get it checked. If the battery is okay, what's next? Could it still be the seat switch or harness? How can I test those without replacing parts? I don't want to disassemble the whole seat. What do you think?

If the battery voltage is within range, a more in-depth diagnostic procedure is needed. The seat switch, harness and electric seat mechanisms are potential causes, but pinpointing it without tools is difficult. Consulting a qualified technician is advisable. A professional diagnostic scan will reveal the fault code, narrowing down the causes and guiding the repair. The repair cost could be around 290€.

Sounds like this is beyond my DIY skills. I got the battery checked and it looks like that's the culprit! Thanks for your help!

Given a discharged battery, the electric seat issue could be a power supply problem. Modern vehicles are sensitive to voltage fluctuations. A defective battery can cause error codes and malfunctions, including the seat control module. The seat wiring could be the issue, but I would check the battery condition and charge first. If the battery's voltage drops too low, modules may behave erratically.
