Hey! I feel your pain. I had a similar headache with my '11 Fiat Punto. My steering column motor cable was up the spout too. Straight up, it's not a walk in the park but it ain't impossible either. It was indeed a motor issue for me. They had to open up the whole steering column to replace the defective motor. The good news, it fixed the problem for good and the steering has been perfect since then. Just to give you heads up, it's definitely a bit of a job, not a quick fix, but not a major serious issue either. Hope this helps. Good luck!

So here's the deal the repair job for the motor cable connection on my Punto didn’t create too big of a hole in the wallet. About 155€ thereabouts. And you know what? Since it was fixed, it's been smooth sailing – like a dream cruise! No more problematic problems to report on the steering column adjustment, thank goodness.
