Electric steering column adjustment on Opel Agila 2010 no longer works

Hello folks! There's a bit of trouble with my 2010 Opel Agila with a gasoline engine and 92327 km mileage. The electric steering column adjustment no longer works. I suspect there might be a defect in the motor for the steering column adjustment. Has anyone had similar experiences and can comment? How did you get on with the mechanics? I didn't have a good experience on my last visit to the garage. In a nutshell - your help is needed!

Summary of the thread

The electric steering column adjustment on a 2010 Opel Agila has stopped working, and the suspected cause is a defect in the motor for the steering column adjustment. A similar issue was experienced by another individual with an Opel Corsa, where the problem was traced to a defective control unit that required replacement. The suggested solution is to have the control unit checked and potentially replaced, as this resolved the issue in the other case.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I had a similar problem with my Opel Corsa from 2013. The control unit was defective in my car. As you suspect, this could also be the case for you. The technicians then carried out a comprehensive check on my Corsa to find the exact cause. It turned out that a defective component in the control unit was the cause. So the entire control unit had to be replaced. So yes, it was a serious problem, but after the control unit was replaced, everything ran like clockwork again. No further problems since then. So if I were you, I would have your guess checked out. Good luck!

Hey, thanks for your answer! Your story sounds really similar to my situation. Do you remember how much the whole thing cost? And everything has gone smoothly since then, right? No more nasty surprises?

Hi, yes, since the visit to the mechanic, the defect in the motor for the steering column adjustment has been fixed and I've had no further problems with the steering. On the subject of costs... I have to admit that it was a bit of a money pit - it cost me a thousand to repair the defective control unit. But since then everything has been running smoothly again, no more nasty surprises. I hope this helps you and you don't end up with the same bill!

Hey thanks for the quick reply! Oh, a grand...that's quite a bit, but if it helps, it would probably be worth it. It's good to hear that you haven't had any further problems since the repair. I'll definitely get it checked out at the garage now and hope for the best too. Thanks again for your help and especially for sharing your experience with me. It has definitely helped to reassure me!
