Electric windows in the BMW 2 Series Diesel (2013): Experience and solutions wanted

Hi everyone, I'm a bit worried about my BMW 2 Series Diesel (2013) with about 315,000 km on the clock. Recently there was trouble with the electric windows and I don't really trust my mechanic since the last time. And there's also something in the fault memory. I suspect that the programming of the window regulator was not successful. Has anyone had similar problems? How did it go with your mechanic? I am really grateful for any experience reports. Thanks in advance!

Summary of the thread

A BMW 2 Series Diesel (2013) owner is experiencing issues with the electric windows and suspects a failed programming of the window regulator. The owner is seeking advice due to distrust in their mechanic and a fault memory indication. A similar issue was shared by another BMW owner, who resolved it after multiple attempts by their mechanic, suggesting persistence and possibly replacing the vehicle battery as a solution.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I had a similar problem with my BMW 1 Series Diesel (2015). Last time in the workshop, a fault was also found in the window regulator. So it seems to be a serious problem - it also took me a little longer. The teach-in phase was also unsuccessful for me, it just seems to be a quirk of this model year. But after a few attempts, the mechanic managed to fix it. Hope this helps you, good luck with your Beemer!

Hey, thanks for your quick reply! That's reassuring that you had a similar problem and that your mechanic was able to solve it. Do you remember how much the repair cost you? And have there been any surprises since then, or has the car been running smoothly ever since? Thank you in advance!

Hey, no problem! So after I took my Beemer to the garage, the mechanic finally managed to fix the window regulator. It was a huge relief at first, I tell you! However, I had to pay €290 to replace the vehicle battery. But since then everything has been running fine, there have been no further surprises. I hope this helps you and you're as lucky as me!

Hey, that sounds good. I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any more problems after that, that gives me hope! Let's see what the next workshop visit brings. Thank you for the information, really helpful. I hope my BMW is as good as yours afterwards!
