Electrical faults and battery problems with Renault Trafic Diesel 2008

Hi guys! I've noticed some issues with my 2008 Renault Trafic Diesel with 13865km on the clock - general electrical faults, error messages, dim or flickering lights and a bad battery when starting the engine. After my last bad experience with the mechanic, I'm now a bit apprehensive and suspect the problem may be related to a break in terminal 30. Have any of you had similar problems and can report how it went at the mechanic? Would be grateful for any help!

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Renault Trafic Diesel is experiencing electrical faults, error messages, dim or flickering lights, and battery issues when starting. The owner suspects a break in terminal 30 might be the cause. A similar case with a Renault Scenic involved a faulty wiring control unit, which was resolved by a mechanic. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle thoroughly checked by a reliable mechanic to identify and fix the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, my 2011 Renault Scenic had pretty similar symptoms. Constant electrical failures, lights that sometimes flickered or went out completely. After a few visits to the garage, the mechanics found that the wiring control unit was faulty. This was a pretty serious problem, but luckily it could be fixed. So, my advice to you - go to a good mechanic, get your car checked thoroughly. For me at least, that was the key factor in solving the problem. Maybe it's the same for you... Just stay calm and don't worry, they know their stuff and know what to do. All the best!

Hey, your experience with the Scenic sounds pretty similar. I'm glad to hear that it could be solved for you. Do you happen to remember the cost of repairing the wiring control unit? And has a similar problem occurred again since the repair or did everything run smoothly afterwards? Thanks for your reply!

Well, it cost me around 1000 euros to repair the on-board control unit. Not exactly peanuts, but what the heck - my Scenic has been running like a kitten ever since. And as for the interruption of terminal 30, that was also fixed in the workshop. No more problems since then. So take the bull by the horns and take your Trafic to the mechanic! Everything will be fine.

Many thanks for the information! It's reassuring to hear that your car has been running well since then. Yes, 1000 euros is certainly an investment, but if it solves the problem then it's worth it. I think I'll take the bull by the horns and get my Trafic checked this week. Fingers crossed that it goes as smoothly for me as it did for you. Again, thanks for your advice and support!
