Electrical faults in Seat Alhambra 2014: weak lights and battery problems

Hello folks! My Seat Alhambra, diesel, built in 2014 with 85,300km on the clock, is currently having problems with the electrics. An error has been stored and the lights are quite weak or even flickering. The battery also seems to be weaker when I start the engine. Could this have something to do with an interruption at terminal 30? I had a not-so-great experience on my last visit to the garage and don't want to go in blind. Have you had similar experiences or any advice for me? I would be grateful for any tips.

Summary of the thread

A 2014 Seat Alhambra is experiencing electrical issues, including weak or flickering lights and a weak battery during engine start. These symptoms may be linked to a faulty alternator, as suggested by another user who faced similar issues. It is advised to have the alternator and possibly the battery sensor checked at a reliable garage to prevent further complications. Addressing these issues promptly could restore the vehicle's electrical performance.

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Seat Leon diesel. Last time at the garage, it turned out that my alternator had given up the ghost, and this was indeed a serious problem. The flickering lights and weak battery when starting the engine were clear indicators. May not be directly related to terminal 30, but it's certainly something you should have checked. It's not just a simple electrical issue, it could also affect the starting and overall performance of your car. It's best to visit a good garage before it gets worse. Hope this helps you!

Thanks for the quick reply! Hm, I hadn't thought about the alternator, could actually be. Do you happen to remember how much the whole thing cost you? And have you had any other problems with the electrics or similar since then?

Hey, you're welcome. The alternator cost me a good 500 euros, but I still had problems with the battery afterwards. I then stupidly overlooked the battery sensor, which was defective. That cost me another €315 to fix. Since then, however, everything has been as good as new. The break in terminal 30 that you mentioned was also fixed the last time I was in the workshop. I haven't had any additional problems with the electrics since then. Hope that gives you a good overview. Just make sure you get it checked at a garage soon before things get worse! Greetings!

So, thank you very much for the information, that really helps me a lot! You're right, I'd better not wait too long and have it checked soon. The cost doesn't sound particularly nice, but if it means I can avoid further problems, it's definitely worth it. I'm glad to hear that everything went smoothly for you afterwards. I hope it will be the same with my car. Thanks again for your help! Greetings back!
