Electronic Steering Column Adjustment Issue

My 2016 Mercedes SLC with a gasoline engine has an electronic steering column adjustment that's totally dead. There's an error stored, and the steering column won't adjust electrically. It seems like a defective cable or plug connection. I was quoted 95€ for the fix. Has anyone else seen this before?

I had similar electronic steering problems on my old Audi A4. The steering column went haywire. Check the connections first, like you said. It could be a simple fix.

What exactly went wrong with your A4? Was it just a loose connection or something more sinister?

It turned out to be a frayed wire in the steering column wiring harness. The workshop replaced the whole harness section. You should get yours checked out professionally.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. It was a faulty connector in the steering column. They cleaned it, re-seated it, and the electric adjustment is working again. The error's gone, too. 95€ as predicted.
