Elgrand Climate Control Problem

I've got a 2000 Nissan Elgrand with a diesel engine and I'm having climate control issues. The automatic temperature control just stopped working. I've got an error code stored, and the air conditioning won't even switch on. Anyone had similar problems? I suspect it might be a faulty interior temperature sensor, maybe just a bad connection.

Sounds familiar. I had similar HVAC sensor issues with my old BMW 5 series; a bad connection can definitely cause those symptoms, especially if you're seeing a stored DTC. Start by checking the wiring and connector for the interior temperature sensor for corrosion or damage.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the interior temperature sensor located on those older Elgrands? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to need special tools?

Unfortunately, I'm unfamiliar with the specific placement on the Elgrand. However, I'd advise against DIY, as you may not have the right tools or expertise. Given the symptoms and your initial diagnosis, I'd recommend getting it professionally diagnosed. Could save you some time and potential further issues.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on. Turns out it was indeed the temperature sensor's cable connection, just like you said! They fixed it for 95€, climate control is working perfectly again!
