Elgrand diesel engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Elgrand diesel experienced low engine power and an illuminated check engine light, with suspicion initially directed at the throttle valve. A response delay when accelerating suggested a potential issue with the throttle valve or its electronics. A workshop diagnosis confirmed the throttle valve was defective, leading to its replacement and resolving the power loss issue.

A response delay? Yes, there is a lag when I accelerate. How did you figure out what was wrong? Was it definitely the throttle, or something else?

That response delay nailed it for me. All signs pointed to a faulty throttle valve and its electronics. It's tricky to diagnose yourself without proper tools. Considering your symptoms and the potential accelerator pedal module issue, I'd suggest a workshop diagnosis. Could save time and headaches.

Thanks! I took it in and the throttle valve was indeed defective, as suspected. Cost 265€ to sort, but the Elgrand is back to its old self. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Elgrand. Reduced power and the check engine light... was there a response delay when you press the accelerator? Have you checked the throttle sensor, throttle body, or air flow? Gathering information.
