Elgrand power tailgate hall sensor error
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Elgrand owner experienced an issue with the power tailgate not opening completely, accompanied by an error related to the tailgate hall sensor. A suggestion was made to inspect the cable and plug connection to the sensor, as loose connections or damaged wiring are common failure points. The owner took the vehicle to a garage, where a broken wire in the tailgate harness was identified and repaired, resolving the issue.

Cheers for the hint. Where exactly is that sensor located? Is it easy to get to, or is it buried somewhere? I'm not the greatest with electrics, but I'm willing to have a look myself before taking it to a shop.

It's usually near the tailgate latch mechanism itself. But honestly, if you're not comfortable with electrics, messing with it could make things worse. I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop. I bet they'll find a faulty electrical connection, it sounds like the exact same issue I had back then.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a local garage, and you were spot on – a broken wire in the tailgate harness. They repaired it for 95€.

I had something similar with my Elgrand's power tailgate. Check the cable and plug connection to the sensor. It's a common point of failure. Could be a loose connection or damaged wiring.
