Elgrand rough running and stalling

My 2001 Nissan Elgrand with a diesel engine has a check engine light. It runs roughly and stalls at idle, and jerks when accelerating. It has 202370 km on the clock. Could this be a defective fuel pressure sensor? I suspect a defective cable or plug connection.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Elgrand. The check engine light, rough running, and stalling all point to fuel delivery issues. Could be the pressure sensor, but think of it like a leaky faucet – the sensor might be reporting a problem, but the problem could be upstream, like a fuel injector. Have you checked the sensor's connections? A loose or corroded plug can cause havoc.

Thank you for your insights. Where exactly is the fuel pressure sensor located on the Elgrand? Is it easily accessible, or will I need special tools to check the cable and plug?

On my model, it's on the fuel rail, fairly accessible. However, I'd still suggest getting it checked at a workshop. While a loose connection is an easy fix, fuel systems are sensitive. A faulty sensor reading could also indicate a bigger problem with the fuel pump or injectors, similar to how a fever might signal a larger infection. Better safe than sorry!

I appreciate the advice. I took it to a workshop, and it was a defective connection to the fuel pressure sensor. The repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for your help!
