Emergency Call System Alert: Warning Light Mystery

Emergency call system failure, Warning lights and errors Getting concerned about my 2007 Chevy Tacuma (gas, 144k km) showing multiple warning signs. The speedometer displays an error message with warning lights, and the system's stored an error code. Pretty sure it's related to the emergency call system acting up. Had a not-so-great experience with my last mechanic, so I'm looking for input from others who've dealt with similar telematics issues. Has anyone experienced this combination of symptoms? What was the fix, and how much did it cost? Any recommendations on handling this car safety concern would be appreciated. Let me know if you need any additional details about the warning signals or error codes.

Had the same problem in my 2010 Chevy Aveo last winter. The emergency call system failure triggered multiple warning lights and diagnostic codes on the dash. Turned out the main communications module connector was corroded and had loose pins. The fix required cleaning the connector terminals and replacing the damaged wiring harness to the telematics control unit. The system reset after the repair cleared all the warning lights. It wasn't a critical safety issue affecting the car's driveability, but definitely needed fixing since the emergency call feature is a key safety system. A professional inspection revealed the root cause, water had seeped in through a degraded grommet near the module. The call failure warnings are often traced back to cable or plug connection issues rather than the module itself. Worth having a qualified tech run a full diagnostic scan to pinpoint the exact problem before replacing parts.

Thanks for sharing your experience! Glad to hear you got that sorted out with the telematics system. I'm dealing with pretty much identical symptoms in my Tacuma right now, those pesky warning lights and system errors are driving me nuts. The corrosion issue you mentioned makes a lot of sense, especially since these older models can be prone to water ingress. I'll definitely have someone check the connectors and wiring harness before jumping to replacing the whole control module. Just curious, do you remember roughly what you ended up paying for the repair? And has everything worked properly since the system reset, or have you had any other issues pop up? Would help me know what to expect cost-wise and if I should be prepared for any follow-up problems.

Just wanted to follow up, took my Aveo to a mechanic last week and got the whole emergency call system malfunction fixed. Had a look at my old invoice and it came to 95€, which covered fixing that faulty cable connection we discussed. The diagnostic codes showed exactly what we suspected, a damaged connector was triggering those SOS signal failures. After the system reset, all those annoying warning lights disappeared completely. Everything's working perfectly now, no more malfunction messages on the dash. Your Tacuma sounds like it's having identical issues to what mine had. The telematics repair turned out to be way simpler and cheaper than replacing the entire module. Just make sure they check those connector terminals thoroughly, that's usually where the problem lies. Been about a month now since the fix and haven't seen a single warning light or error code since. The emergency call system's been rock solid.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice! Took my Tacuma to a mechanic yesterday and got everything sorted out. Just like you suggested, it was mainly a connector issue causing all those warning lights and emergency call failures. The mechanic found corrosion in the control module wiring, cleaned up the connections, and replaced a section of damaged harness. After resetting the system, all those annoying SOS signal errors cleared right up. Total bill came to around €120, way better than having to replace the entire module. Been driving for a couple days now with no warning lights or malfunction messages. The emergency call system is working perfectly again. Really glad I checked here first instead of letting my old mechanic talk me into unnecessary replacements.
