Emergency call system error

I own a 2008 Peugeot 607 with a gasoline engine, and the emergency call system is acting up. An error message keeps appearing in the speedometer, along with a warning light. The diagnostic check also shows an error stored in the memory. Is my car unsafe now? I'm really worried about this malfunction.

Summary of the thread

A 2008 Peugeot 607 owner experienced a consistent error with the emergency call system, indicated by a warning light and error message on the speedometer. The issue was not due to a weak battery, as initially considered, but was suspected to be related to a defective cable or plug connection. Upon visiting a workshop, the problem was confirmed to be a defective plug connection, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

A malfunctioning emergency call system on a Peugeot 607. It's like having a phone that sometimes dials 911 on its own – annoying and potentially problematic. Before panicking, does the error message appear consistently, or is it intermittent? And, have you checked the battery voltage? A weak battery can sometimes cause spurious errors in the car's computer.

Thank you for your reply. The error is pretty consistent, showing up almost every time I start the car. The battery seems fine, as the car starts without any issues. Could it be something else, maybe a fuse or a sensor?

Consistent errors rule out some simpler explanations. While a fuse issue is possible, given the nature of the emergency call system, I'd suspect a defective cable or plug connection within the system itself. Think of it like a loose wire in your home's alarm system. It's unlikely to be a critical safety issue immediately, but the system won't function correctly when needed. You'll need to visit a workshop.

Thank you for your advice! I took it to the workshop, and you were right! It was indeed a defective plug connection. The repair cost me 95€. Everything is working perfectly now. I really appreciate your help!
