Emergency call system malfunction

Has anyone experienced an emergency call system malfunction in their 2016 Mercedes GLS with a gasoline engine?

Oh man, that sounds like a pain! I had a similar thing happen in my old BMW a few years back, though it wasn't the emergency call system specifically, it was the tire pressure monitoring. Diagnostic codes all over the place, lights flashing, the works! Was the error message you got anything specific, or just a general 'malfunction' type thing? I remember trying a system reset on mine, but it didn't do anything. Did you try that? Just curious!

The error message is indeed a general 'emergency call system malfunction' notification. I have not attempted a system reset yet. Can you elaborate on the diagnostic codes you encountered with your BMW and whether they pointed to a specific cause?

Okay, so mine were related to the TPMS control module not communicating properly. I can't recall the exact diagnostic codes, but the garage mentioned something about a faulty sensor and a broken wire in the wheel well. Honestly, I'd take yours to a workshop; they can run proper diagnostic and see what's going on. If it's just a loose connection like you suspect, it should be a quick fix.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I followed your advice and had a workshop perform a thorough diagnostic. It was indeed a defective plug connection at the control module, as initially suspected. Repair cost was as estimated. Problem resolved.
