Endeavour AC Compressor Failure

Hey, I'm having a weird A/C issue with my 2009 Ford Endeavour (gasoline engine). It's got about 42k km on the clock. The A/C compressor just suddenly stopped switching on. Now, the air coming through is just regular outside air, no cooling at all. I even hooked it up to a code reader and there's an error stored related to the A/C system. I've checked the basics like fuses, but they seem fine. Any ideas what might be causing this before I take it to a shop?

It sounds like you're experiencing an electrical issue preventing the A/C compressor from engaging. Undervoltage conditions can certainly cause the symptoms you describe. Has the vehicle's battery been load tested recently? A weak battery can trigger various electrical gremlins. Also, are there any other electrical components exhibiting unusual behavior?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't load tested the battery recently, but the car starts fine. As for other electrical issues, nothing obvious. No dimming lights or anything like that. Could a faulty relay switch or pressure switch cause these symptoms, even if the battery seems okay? Where is the AC relay located?

While the car may start, the battery's voltage may still drop below the threshold required for the A/C compressor to engage reliably. Think of it like a garden hose: it might still spray water, but not with enough pressure to, say, power a sprinkler. A faulty relay or pressure switch could indeed be the culprit, but undervoltage is the more probable cause given the stored error code. I would recommend a diagnostic check by a qualified technician. They will be able to diagnose and repair the A/C system.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I took it to a local shop, and it turned out to be exactly what you suggested – undervoltage! They replaced a faulty relay switch and pressure switch, and the A/C is working perfectly again. Total cost was around 240€. Appreciate the help!
