Endeavour Engine Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Ford Endeavour experienced a reduction in engine power, with a diagnostic scan indicating an error potentially linked to the engine control unit (ECU). The issue was suspected to be caused by a faulty main relay. After consulting a certified shop, it was confirmed that the ECU was indeed defective due to the faulty relay, and the necessary repairs were completed.

Thanks. The spark plugs were replaced about 10,000 km ago. I haven't checked the fuel filter yet. But with the error code pointing to the engine control unit, is it still likely that the fuel filter is the main problem, or is it more likely the ECU?

Okay, with newish plugs and an ECU error, I'd say you're probably right to suspect the ECU. A clogged fuel filter can cause similar issues, but the error code points more directly to the computer. I'd recommend getting it checked at a workshop with the right diagnostic tools.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a certified shop, and they confirmed the engine control unit was defective, caused by a faulty main relay. The repair cost 120€, including parts and labor. Thanks again for your help.

Interesting. I had similar symptoms with my Endeavour: reduced power and a recurring error code. It could be the main relay, but those symptoms could point to a number of things. When did you last replace your spark plugs, and have you checked the fuel filter?
