Endeavour Fuel Filter Heater Error
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2021 Ford Endeavour experiencing a fuel filter heater error, leading to reduced engine power, poor response, higher fuel consumption, and uneven idling. The issue is suspected to be worse during cold starts, possibly due to a faulty connection affecting the fuel heating process. The suggested solution is to have the vehicle inspected by a professional, as the problem could be more complex than a simple connection issue. Ultimately, the problem was resolved by repairing a defective cable/plug connection to the fuel filter heater.

Good question, and yes, it does seem worse on cold starts. So, if the fuel isn't heating properly, does that directly lead to the other symptoms I'm seeing? And if it is just a bad connection like I suspect, is it something I could realistically tackle myself, or am I better off leaving it to the professionals?

Given the symptoms and that it's worse when cold, a faulty fuel filter heater is highly suspect. It might just be a connection, but with diesels, you don't wanna mess around too much if you're not confident. Save yourself a headache and maybe a bigger bill, and get it checked out by someone who knows their stuff. Workshops are much better equipped to diagnose such issues.

Thanks, appreciate the advice! Turns out you were spot on – took it to a local mechanic, and it was indeed a defective cable/plug connection to the fuel filter heater. Repair cost me about 95€. Runs like a charm now!

Sounds like a pain. Is it worse when the engine is cold? Could be the fuel isn't heating up properly. But why is the consumption so high? Maybe the engine is compensating?
