Endeavour MAP Sensor Failure

Hi, I have a 2006 Ford Endeavour with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light came on. I also noticed reduced engine power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. My car has 83468 km on it. I suspect it might be a faulty manifold pressure sensor, possibly due to a large vacuum leakage. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had similar issues with my Endeavour. Sounds like your MAP sensor is indeed failing. Is your idle rough too?

Thanks for the quick response! The idle does seem a little rougher than usual, yes. Could the vacuum leak be the reason for all of these problems? Where is the MAP sensor located exactly, and is it difficult to replace? I'm just trying to get a better understanding of the root cause.

Yes, a vacuum leak is very likely causing the manifold pressure sensor to misread, leading to all those symptoms. Replacing it might be DIY-able, but honestly, with those symptoms, I'd recommend a workshop. Could save you a lot of headache.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed a faulty manifold pressure sensor due to a vacuum leak, just as we suspected. The total repair cost was around 235€. Runs like new now!
