Endeavour wiper failure

Hey, I've got a 2003 Ford Endeavour with a gasoline engine, and the wipers have stopped working. The windshield wipers don't function at all, and I scanned the car and found an error stored in the error memory related to the wiper system. I checked the fuse, and it seems fine. Any ideas before I start tearing apart the steering column?

I had a similar issue with my Endeavour. Have you checked the wiring harness that connects to the wiper motor and the switch on the steering column? Sometimes those connections can become loose or corroded, especially with older vehicles. It could also be the rain sensor if your car has one.

Thanks for the tip. Where exactly is that wiring harness located? And is it easy to get to, or do I need to remove a bunch of stuff to access it? Is the rain sensor connected to that same harness?

Yes, the rain sensor is integrated. The wiring harness runs along the steering column and connects to the wiper motor under the hood. It's usually accessible after removing some of the plastic trim around the steering column. Given that you have an error code and have checked the fuses, it might be best to have a workshop take a look at it. I'm not comfortable enough giving advise beyond this point.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a workshop, and you were right - it was a defective cable and plug connection. They replaced it, and everything is working fine now. Cost me around 95€ Appreciate the help!
