(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2014 VW Sharan Diesel is experiencing two major issues: the check engine light is on, and the car is overheating. The suspected cause is a malfunctioning controlled air flap. A similar issue was resolved in a 2011 VW Passat by replacing the controlled air flap, suggesting this could be a viable solution. Hey, thanks for the quick reply. What you're talking about sounds pretty darn similar to what I'm going through with my Sharan right now. Can you remember what you paid for the repair back then and if any other issues have come up since? Would really appreciate your feedback!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! So, after the visit to the mechanic, the issue with the controlled air flap was fortunately resolved, no more problems since then. But the repair did cost me something. 590 € to fix the jamming and stiffness of the radiator shutter. It wasn't exactly a bargain, but what can you do, right? Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Hope this helps you!

Many thanks for the detailed information! It looks like a visit to the mechanic is due, even if the price does hurt a bit. But what won't you do for your beloved car, right? In any case, your experiences have given me the right direction. Hopefully it's "only" the air flap in my case. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hello, had similar problems with my 2011 VW Passat. In my case it was actually the controlled air flap. Last time at the garage they had to replace it, was no small matter. Incorrect operation can lead to even worse problems. So, I would recommend having it checked at a trustworthy workshop. Hope this helps you.
